Ikea Uppleva - The Disruptive Smart TV
Ikea have surprisingly announced their own smart tv solution, which includes the related furniture. While I’m not immediately convinced by the Uppleva, I do think it’s an interesting move. It’s not that we have a furniture home products company with their own tv, it’s the concept of an all-in-one solution provided by a popular non-electronics brand.
I’ll be very interested to see how it fares against the brands such as the already struggling Sony televisions. My gut feeling is that the home entertainment market, from televisions to home consoles, is ripe for disruptive innovation (or do I mean sustaining innovation - help please?). I very much doubt this is the game changer, but it’s certainly an interesting attempt in a market ready for change.
